{"id":2083,"date":"2024-10-24T01:01:42","date_gmt":"2024-10-23T17:01:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.tradenet.hk\/b2b\/depts-icac-tackle-corruption-cases\/"},"modified":"2024-10-24T01:01:42","modified_gmt":"2024-10-23T17:01:42","slug":"depts-icac-tackle-corruption-cases","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.tradenet.hk\/b2b\/depts-icac-tackle-corruption-cases\/","title":{"rendered":"Depts, ICAC tackle corruption cases"},"content":{"rendered":"<div><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.news.gov.hk\/eng\/2024\/10\/20241023\/20241023_120327_253\/images\/20241023131340044.jpg\"><\/p>\n<p>The Labour Department (LD) and the Electrical &amp; Mechanical Services Department (EMSD) indicated today that they have taken actions following the Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC)\u2019s recent arrests for suspected corruption cases in relation to training courses and working experience proof.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The LD emphasised in a press release that it is highly concerned about suspected illegal acts involving the offer and acceptance of benefits to assist unqualified people in enrolling in training courses for Experienced Operators of Excavator.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>It pointed out that it has initiated an investigation to examine whether the training course providers and their staff have strictly complied with the approval conditions for operating Mandatory Safety Training courses.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>It will follow up seriously if violations are found, the LD stressed.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In response to the ICAC\u2019s actions, the LD announced the revocation of <a>100<\/a> certificates for excavator operators involved in the case.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>According to the Factories &amp; Industrial Undertakings (Loadshifting Machinery) Regulation, people operating an excavator must have successfully completed the relevant safety training courses and obtained the corresponding certificates.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The LD added that it is reviewing the admission mechanism for training course providers.
