{"id":688,"date":"2024-10-09T01:02:13","date_gmt":"2024-10-08T17:02:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.tradenet.hk\/b2b\/fintech-week-to-kick-off-on-oct-28\/"},"modified":"2024-10-09T01:02:13","modified_gmt":"2024-10-08T17:02:13","slug":"fintech-week-to-kick-off-on-oct-28","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.tradenet.hk\/b2b\/fintech-week-to-kick-off-on-oct-28\/","title":{"rendered":"FinTech Week to kick off on Oct 28"},"content":{"rendered":"<div><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.news.gov.hk\/eng\/2024\/10\/20241008\/20241008_175458_796\/images\/20241008193343805.jpg\"><\/p>\n<p>The ninth edition of <a>Hong Kong FinTech Week<\/a> (HKFW), themed \u201cIlluminating New Pathways in Fintech\u201d will take place from October 28 to November 1, Invest Hong Kong (InvestHK) <a>announced<\/a> today.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>HKFW 2024 will place a significant emphasis on cutting-edge technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), it added.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The event is expected to draw over 30,000 attendees from more than 100 economies.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The main conference, involving hundreds of distinguished speakers, will take place between October 28 and 29 at Hong Kong AsiaWorld-Expo.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>It will feature eight themed forums, namely a Global Forum, an AI &amp; Advanced Tech Forum, a Blockchain &amp; Digital Assets Forum, a Payments &amp; Other FinTech Forum, an InsurTech Forum, a Green FinTech &amp; Impact Forum, a WealthTech &amp; InvestTech Forum, and the Hong Kong Connect Forum.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, a series of community engagement events will take place from October 28 to November 1 in Hong Kong and Shenzhen. These will include a tour of the Greater Bay Area, satellite and networking events, lifestyle activities and workshops, and the inaugural Web3x3 basketball game.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>InvestHK said HKFW enjoys the confidence of both Mainland and international companies and markets.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>It highlighted that this year\u2019s event will feature a record number of big tech companies from the Mainland showcasing their latest innovations, as well as notable speakers and delegates from the Association of Southeast Asian Nations and the Middle East, reflecting Hong Kong\u2019s multifaceted business connections and outlook.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Secretary for Financial Services &amp; the Treasury Christopher Hui said Hong Kong has emerged as a super connector and super value-adder for fintech thanks to its strategic location and robust financial infrastructure.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur city is ranked third in the latest Global Financial Centres Index and first in the Asia Pacific Region,\u201d he added. \u201cIn terms of fintech, Hong Kong rose five places to ninth, putting it among the top 10 fintech hubs globally.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis reflects the concerted efforts of the Government, financial regulators, and industry players to promote fintech development in Hong Kong.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Mr Hui also stressed that, owing to various initiatives aimed at attracting and retaining strategic companies and talent, the city is primed to reap the benefits of Hong Kong FinTech Week.
